Why am I always a sucker for music memes?

Think of 20 albums, CDs and/or LPs that had such a profound effect on you they changed your life. Dug into your soul. Music that brought you to life when you heard it. Royally affected you, kicked you in the wazoo, literally socked you in the gut, is what I mean. Then when you finish, tag 15 others, including moi. Make sure you copy and paste this part so they know the drill. Get the idea now? Good. Tag, you're it!

This was extended to 20 because honestly, rules are meant to be broken, right? I tried 15 but had to list more. I would like to stress that these are not necessarily my 20 favorite albums of all time but the ones that had the greatest impact on me and changed my perspective on music somehow.

Listed in the same order I thought of them. This was a weird meme for me, because even back in the day when it wasn't super easy to get one song that you liked, I was never a huge album person. I'd usually like 5-6 songs per album, and not necessarily the hits. So, to come up with 20 entire albums that were influential was a good mindbender.

1. Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream (my first CD ever)
2. Nirvana - Nevermind (had it on tape - In Utero was my 2nd CD ever)
3. Tori Amos - Little Earthquakes
4. In Flames - Come Clarity
5. Pearl Jam - Ten (special nod to Yellow Ledbetter which makes my heart sing when I hear it dootdootdootdootdodidoooo) *edited 2/21* I just realized my brain confused YL & Black. I love both
6. Trivium - Ascendancy
7. Slipknot - The Subliminal Verses.
8. In Flames - Reroute To Remain
9. Metallica - Master of Puppets. Don't kill me, I didn't listen to the whole thing until after the year 2000. *shame*
10. O Brother Where Are Thou Soundtrack.
11. Loreena McKinnet - The Mask and the Mirror. Don't worry, I'm not getting weird on you.
12. Korn - Life is Peachy (Thanks Cindy!) which leads me to
13. Marilyn Manson - Antichrist Superstar
14. and How could I have left out so far: Nine Inch Nails - Pretty Hate Machine, which I actually heard after
15. Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral (I played this disc while I slept for YEARS)
16. Alice in Chains - Nothing Safe
17. The Braveheart Soundtrack *sends hugs to all my band friends* I still cry when I hear it - and not because of the movie. I seriously love and miss you all.
18. The Twin Peaks Theme. Creepy beautiful and I loved it even when I was 11.
19. Led Zeppelin - IV
20. Also formative in my high school years. Alanis Morisette - Jagged Little Pill.

Well, there you go. I'm sure I'll read through this in half an hour and kick myself for leaving out stuff, but that's off the top of my head!
If you want to do it, do it, please let me know so I can make sure to check it out.

Weee meme!

I got this one from a friend on Facebook. Even though he didn't tag me.

1. Open your library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc)
2. Put it on shuffle
3. Press play
4. For the first question, type the song that's playing
5. When you go to a new question, press the next button TWICE
6. Don't lie and try to pretend you're cool...just type it in man!

IF YOUR LIFE WAS A MOVIE WHAT WOULD THE SOUNDTRACK BE

(I'm using all my songs that are on my ipod, which are mostly ones that I like at least enough to want to hear... I'm not risking what could be found in my 11,494 item library as a whole)

Opening Credits:
"Cry for help" By Shinedown... I'm not familiar enough with this song.

Waking up:
"The Wrong Band" By Tori Amos. Very appropriate for the way I feel many mornings :) "I think its perfectly clear, we're in the wrong band"

First Day of School:
"Champagne Supernova" by Oasis... hurm.

Falling in Love:
"Wicked" by Slayer. Ok. That's just funny

Losing Virginity:
"Go into the water" by Dethklok *gigglefit*

Fight Song:
"Wish you were here" by Incubus. Hey, if its half as awesome as the fight scene is in Layer Cake that's set to a Duran Duran song, then yay!

Break Up:
"Selfmade" Otep. Nuff said...

Prom:
"Never there" by Cake. Must have been Otep that drove away my prom date.

Life:
"The Becoming" By Nine Inch Nails. I'm starting to get concerned.

Mental Breakdown:
"Wicked Wand" By Saint Diablo. My faith in my soundtrack's appropriateness has returned.

Driving:
"Trigger" In Flames. HELL YEAH!

Flashback:
"She walks on me" Hole.... I'm just ashamed this is in my library.

Getting Back Together:
"Rio" Duran Duran.

Wedding:
"Bored" Deftones. Yikes, what a ceremony.

Birth of Child:
"Alien" Bush. Yeah... well. Maybe its for the best that I don't want kids in my real life:)

Final Battle:
"Reach Down" Temple of the Dog

Death Scene:
"holiday" Weezer. Very sweet! Let it be known in the event of my demise I want Weezer played at my funeral!

Funeral Song:
"jimmy" Tool. Let it be known as much as I love Tool, I do not want it played at my funeral!

End Credits:
"11am" Incubus.

Ok.. if you want to do this go ahead :) It was kinda fun!

New Meme

Yup, that's right, I"m going to start a new internet meme!
Anytime you leave a comment anywhere, or sign up for anything, and it has one of those nifty word verification boxes, come up with a definition.

For example:

Abionsog. Small bird, local to bogs, make their nests out of peat moss.

See? Its fun! Try it in the comments below, and spread it like peat moss fires. Only maybe faster and warmer.

You Are Dasher

You're an independent minded reindeer who never plays by the rules.

Why You're Naughty: That little coup you tried to stage against Santa last year

Why You're Nice: You secretly give naughty children presents.

Tag, I'm it?

Thomas tagged me in a meme thingymabob.

So here we go:
I am to list 6 things that I am thankful for, and list 6 bloggers who I think are nifty. But I'm a big fat cheater cheater .... though I don't eat punkins so anywho.

I am thankful for my family, which includes sweet Kitty, who is at this moment dreaming that he is Superman

Tripsie,

and of course Sam - who ROCKS my socks that rock.

And of course my parents and my sister, however I don't have pictures of them, nor do I really feel its appropriate to post pictures of people on the internet without their knowledge :)

I am thankful for good real-life friends like Mikey & Janine, Ben, Thomas, Cindy, Dana, Dianne, and many others. My apologies if I did not list you specifically, or if you don't like the order I put you in.

I am thankful for internet friends like Eric & Brian, and all the sweet knitters who are so generous of their time.

I am thankful for knitted socks, and I think that I have been grumpy recently because I have not been knitting socks all month. But soon holiday knitted items will be complete and then I can get back to my lovelies.

I am thankful that I have a job that I mostly like, and that allows me to work undisturbed for most of the day, and listen to my ipod.

I am thankful that we live in a world where its easy to reconnect with old friends :)

Let's see that's 6 isn't it?

Next up, 6 bloggers who we think are nifty. Well, I'm sorry Thomas but I just can NOT narrow it down so.

6 nifty Knitting bloggers:

The Lime & Violet Daily Chum. Great source of information, and regular articles about other nifty things.

The Yarn Harlot Most smartest, wittiest, knitter I can think of. And she's hilarious to boot!

WendyknitsAside from writing amazing patterns, shes' got great taste in kitty cats.

ShutupI'mcounting a phrase most knitters have either said or thought (as we hold up one finger to indicate we are not to be disturbed right now). Cass doesn't do well in the winter so she's a little grumpy, but come springtime she'll be right as ... well as right as she ever is.

Irishgirlie's blog. What more can I say, she has amazing taste in yarn :)

And last but not least, Brooklyn Tweed Jared takes beautiful pictures of gorgeous projects. He comes up with amazing ideas.

6 of my friends' blogs

Cindy details her experiences as a new mom and new transplant to Texas.

Mikey has just bought his first house! And he mostly talks about super awesome things you can do with technology and the internet and social networks and metal and awesome times in Richmond.

Ben writes about whatever pops into his head. Honest! He also reviews movies and posts song lyrics and whatnot.

Thomas... is well, he's a goofball :P

Kyle is the super awesome knitter who sent me my lovely scarf (which is definitely coming in handy). He does more than just knits though, he's been working on some paintings too!

Dana
is one of my lovely awesome knit night friends. She recently sent me some roving to play with on my drop spindle! She's also married to a hunkahunka running man as shown in her most recent post.

And finally, 6 super funny, entertaining blogs:

Lolcats
Loldogs
Failblog
LolStarWars
Project Shadow - also listen to their daily podcast!
And of course, Cute Overload.com one of my favorites!

Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrated, and YAY its almost the weekend for everyone else ;)

Tag You're it!

What was I doing 10 years ago?
Funny, I've already Answered this question

Five snacks I enjoy:
1. Cool Ranch Doritos
2. Crunchy (not puffy EW!) Cheetos, original flavor.
3. Cottage Cheese
4. Popcorn. Nuke the bag and shake in some garlic powder. NOM NOM
5. Corn chips and medium hot Fritos cheese dip.

Five things on my to-do list today:
I think I'll say this week, I'm not much of a to-do list person, plus the day is almost over.
1.Finish my 2nd sock
2. Get one report caught up to 2/08
3. Finish at least half of another report of 550 contracts, I got to about 120 today.
4. Get my oil changed and get the car people to try to figure out why my air vents stopped working (drive home today in the humidity SUCKED)
5. Borrow carpet cleaner and get rid of the brown spots. Poor Tripsie, she had tummy troubles, and well, 3 legged walking equals *step step sit, step step sit* so its like poo morse code all over.

Things I would do if I were a billionaire:
1. Buy a compound and move all my friends in.
2. Form a no-kill cat shelter.
3. Get some sheepies and bunnies and learn how to spin and dye.
4. Buy all the land around my parents house so that they don't have to worry about someone putting a trailer park or something in their front yard.
5. Donate to Meals on Wheels - they've started a program where they also bring pet food to elderly/homebound people with animals!

Five jobs I have had:
Baskin Robbins - best benefits ever.
In charge of Action figures and Video games at Toys R Us. Too bad my manager was a jerk.
Hallmark Card Clerk.
J Crew phone order person.
My current job, which is way too complicated and weird to describe here.

Five of my bad habits:
1. Biting the inside of my mouth. not so much biting, chewing.
2. Preferring clutter to putting things "away"
3. See Snacks.
4. I am VERY STUBBORN.
5. Being too lazy to brush my teeth on weekends. Or get dressed...

Five places I have lived:
1. Lynchburg VA
2. Forest VA
3. Appomattox VA
4. Farmville Va
5. A different part of Lynchburg VA. I've moved a lot, just never far.

Five people I want to get to know better (yes, this means you are tagged!)
Tagging is always a dangerous thing - but here goes - I hope my buddies will play nicely :)

Instead of tagging 5 people, if you would like to particpate, leave me a comment. It'll be fun to see who some of my readers are that I may not know very well!

Five random things
Hmmm are these random things my readers may not already know? *thinks*

1. I go *squee* whenever I'm mentioned in a podcast or blog. Thank you Kyle!

2. I moved once when I was 4, and didn't move again until I was 18. In the last 10 years I have moved *counts* 13 times. Despite not liking our kitchen, I'm not in the mood to give up finally feeling like I have a home unless something much better comes along.

3. I have very small feet. I wear size 6 or 6.5 shoes. Thing is, my sister who is a few inches shorter than I am has bigger feet!

4. I drive a 1993 Grand Am. My license plate is (with a variation on spelling) Red Rocket. Its partly because its red, but its also a hilarious South Park reference that I'll probably go to hell for :P I paid $800 for the Red Rocket from a co-worker over 3 years ago.

5. I love shows like Ghost Hunters, and Most Haunted, but I hate horror movies.
