The best kind of baby shower

Is a knit- night baby shower!
Why? Because knitters make AWESOME STUFF

Check out this beautiful woven blanket.

Sorry Stephanie, it's not the cutest picture of you - but you're so in awe of the blanket!

Awww its the wee little baby booties!!!!
These were a big hit. YAY!

And look at the cute little cocoony thing!

Also - we knitters take care of our own. Beautiful yarn for mommy!
I've decided to knit some more baby booties - these are for a co-worker who is about to become a grandmother.

Make sure to subscribe to my new website. My 2nd post was a very exciting interview with the founder of Soak!

I love heels!!!

Ok, so yeah this is a bit silly, but I just love sock heels.
You start off with your round tube of fabric.

Then you knit a nice heel flap. (By the way, the below picture is the most accurate as far as color is concerned)

Do some magic short rows and voila you have a triangle!

Pick up all the side bits and you're one piece of fabric again.

And like MAGIC! You've got the better part of a sock!

This sock (and its future mate) are for Hubs. I'm using the Lorien colorway from the Unique Sheep LOTR Club. He said he wanted bright yellow socks, and when I saw the Charlie Brown cables I just had to put them together ;)

In other news, I got a package from Germany today :D Extra love to my mail lady for braving the weather to deliver it by hand.

IT'S WOLLMEISE!!!!!

I somehow just managed to be in the right place at the right time and caught an update.

I just keep thinking some kind of awesome green lantern shawl. Also, the yarn came with a really pretty glove pattern, and I might use the cable motif on something else.

Wow!

I consider myself a very lucky woman to have such wonderful friends. My mom is also a very very lucky woman.

Her friends at church are all in a knitting/crochet group together, and everytime theres a wedding one of them makes an afghan for the bride.

Today after Easter Service, they came up to me and gave me this.
(for scale, that white bit in the upper left corner is a door, and the brown thing to the right is the leg of a chair)

It is so beautiful, I immediately burst into tears. As a knitter, I know how much work and love was put into this beautiful (and enormous) blanket, and to have done it for lil ole me, who only comes to the church about 5 times a year (when I'm visiting my parents).

Fiber people are truly the most generous in the world.

Happy Valentines'!

Oops. I hit enter.
Anywho.
Happy Valentine's day!!
Sam gave me this book, featuring tales inspired by Tori Amos and an introduction by Neil Gaiman!

He's also ordered me a Wii Fit! YAAAAAY!! I've been playing Wii Sports just to get back into the swing of things.

I have a three day weekend thanks to President's day, so I'm hoping ot get a lot of knitting done.
Last night, I finally finished a Christmas Present for someone who I'm pretty sure doesn't look at my blog, so here are some photos.

It had a nice wool wash last night, and now Tripsie is helping to hold it in place as it dries.

*hears gnawing sounds* OH no, she's trying to help me cut the ends of the yarn but they haven't been woven in yet *grabs from her mouth* BAD TRIPSIE!

I needed to finish the scarf so that I could free up a Knit Picks needle cable to get back to work on my sweater. However.... when I got the front on a separate needle and was finally able to stretch it out? Well...

Its been frogged. I'm not sure if I want to try again right now or not.
However, that leaves me with only 4 works in progress, which is odd for me. I'm not sure my ADDness can handle it, so I might cast on for something else.

I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Weekend update

Not much going on... I realized it had been a while since I reported any knitting news :)
I'm working on a Better Bucket Hat in Mmmmmmmmmmmalabrigo.
The color is called Burgundy Dash, but I think it should be called Rose Garden. There's lovely little spots of green and peach!

Also, I had a baby shower to go to today, so last night I whipped up these cute purple washcloths. I love hand-knit washcloths, they're so soft!
Its hard to tell, but they were purple and white (a very light lilac shade)

I also dropped off my rings to be sized, I have itty bitty fingers.. so I had been keeping it on with only the best available!!!

About a yard of Socks that Rock :P its all curly now. But after February 4th (eek that feels so long away) my ring will fit just fine!

I hope everyone is having a good weekend!!

Christmas came early

Sam and I were going to have a few friends over Wednesday night and exchange our gifts, but we decided to move it to last night to make it easier for everyone to come.
And oh goodness lookie what he made me!
He ordered all the parts and put it together at his parents house. Brought it home Friday night and I didn't even notice!! He's very very sneaky and clever and I love him! Now I can play some games that came out more recently than 2004!
I'll take another picture now that its all set up.
Tripsie loves her present.

I got both cats a fleece blanket from the bargain area at Target.
Kitty prefers mama's sweater.

I gave Sam a nifty t-shirt from Thinkgeek.com, a DVD of Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia, some coffee, some recordable DVD discs, a gift card to Best Buy & one for Itunes.

I'm still working on some of my knitted gifts.... getting down to the wire. I'm thinking I might hold off on finishing one so that I can make sure it fits - 'cause I really doubt I'll be able to finish the whole project before Thursday.

I hope everyone is safe, happy, and healthy. I know a lot of the US is buried under ice and snow... Send some our way! Its sunny today but we've mostly just had a lot of rain.

Knit night pressies!

Tonight was knit night in Bedford with my friends! Sadly, Dana had to stay home sick. But Dianne played Santa.
Here's my gifties. Check out the matching bags that weren't even on purpose!

Dana gave me a beautiful set of needles, they have pretty mother of pearl on the ends. A cute little sheepy guy, and some pirate pencil toppers, though I imagine she hopes I can use them on knitting needles. (ps they fit on the size 10's)

Dianne also gave me some needle tip thingies (not pictured they fell out in the car but I will rescue them in the morning).
And some beautiful Noro!!! I havent knit with Noro yet but I've always wanted to. And its PURPLE!

I just can't wait until after Christmas when I can get back to sock knitting. How awful of me :P

Speaking of sock knitting, I had brought some hand dyed yarns that I made while I was on vacation.

Here's the yarn being dyed, and here's the finished products. I ended up keeping one of them.

Also!!! *happy dance and trumpet blast*
I have lost 3 lbs in the last 2 weeks!!!
HORRAY!!
